East Cut Public Art Walking Tour

Let’s check out some public art close to your Jasper home! The Public Art Tour is a project by Jenny Sharaf and B&O Play by Bang and Olufsen presented by The East Cut Community Benefit District. This self-guided walking tour highlights the world-renowned public art in our district’s privately-owned pubic open spaces (POPOS). All featured public art locations are open and free to visit during regular business hours. We’re listed a few of our favorites:

Location Four: 303 Second Street in Marathon Plaza / 0.1 miles from Jasper. Jon Krawczyk created the The Kilroy Three in this large urban park. Krawczyk works on many scales, but this massive piece is truly impressive and gorgeous, his love for organic shapes shines in this piece.

Location Sixteen: First Street & Howard Street / 0.3 miles from Jasper. Time Signature by Richard Deutsch is a landmark sculpture that juxtaposes five curved stainless steel vessels that soar to 48 feet.

Location Nine: 222 Second Street / 0.4 miles from Jasper. The public space is adorned with teak wood walls, polished concrete floors and works by artist Frank Stella.

The indoor park at 101 Second Street features a bright multistory atrium with seating, trees, and public art. Stop by the art pavilion with commissions by painter Charles Arnoldi and sculptor Larry Bell.

Location Seven: 101 Second Street / 0.4 miles from Jasper. Sumer #24 by Larry Bell.

Location Eight: 101 Second Street / 0.4 miles from Jasper. The Core by Charles Arnoldi.

Walk on Mission Street between First and Second Street, and you’ll find colorful public art.

Location Eleven: 555 Mission Street / 0.4 miles from Jasper. ‘Moonrise’ is three busts of heads by the artist Ugo Rondinone sit in-between the three sections of benches.

Jasper is a convergence. Of structure and imagination. Of the classic and the eclectic. Of art and life. This 400-foot high-rise apartment building crowns San Francisco’s fabled Rincon Hill and stands as an iconic addition to the city skyline. It is a statement about elegance in a place where elegance actually means something.
