6 Nearby Sweet Spots
Sometimes we just need a sweet fix. Whether it’s at the end of a great meal, an afternoon pick-me-up or even a treat to kick start your day (we won’t tell), sometimes a little sweet indulgence is a must. But not all sweet spots spike your blood sugar, some are pure eye candy. We’ve rounded up six sweet spots that are sure to satisfy your senses, all within walking distance of Jasper.
Socola Chocolatier. 535 Folsom Street, 0.2 miles from Jasper. Socola handcrafts artisanal confections with modern flavors and a fantastic taste of fun. The entire delicately daring and absolutely delightful chocolate truffle collection plus delicious treats and coffee is served. You must try the Sriracha Flying Rooster Truffles paired with a latte. This infamous Southeast Asian hot sauce delivers powerful notes of garlic, chili and a mighty fine rooster crow.
Salesforce Park. 425 Mission Street, 0.4 miles from Jasper. This striking, innovative, and sustainable building transforms a transportation hub into an urban experience, complete with a gondola, and topped off by a 5.4-acre rooftop park open to the sky. Board a glass box at the corner of Fremont and Mission Street for a quick ride up to Salesforce Park level. The Park runs the entire length of the Transit Center’s nearly four-block stretch. Home to 600 trees and 16,000 plants arranged in 13 different botanical feature areas…and there’s nothing else like it anywhere.
Rincon Park. The Embarcadero & Folsom Street, 0.6 miles from Jasper. This beautiful waterfront park features some of the most coveted views in San Francisco and a promenade with a giant 60 foot tall bow-and-arrow sculpture known as “Cupid’s Span” and designed by internationally renowned sculptors Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. Pack a lunch and bring your camera to capture stunning City views at this waterfront location.
Pier 14. 0.8 miles from Jasper. Take a sweet stroll along San Francisco’s Embarcadero and you’ll stumble upon Pier 14. You’ll enjoy stunning views of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco skyline along with public artwork, breezy walkway, and welcoming chairs. Venture out onto the Pier’s 637-foot length and the sounds of the wind and the water seem to swallow all other noises. This is an amazing place to watch the lights on the Bay Bridge and the city lights blink on as the sun goes down.
Ferry Building. One Ferry Building, 0.9 miles from Jasper. Spend a day indulging in a feast for the senses with a plethora of merchants. Along with the delightful bites and shopping at the Ferry Building, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a huge hit. A few of our favorite sweet treats include: Secret Breakfast sundae from Humphry Slocombe, Gingersnaps from Miette, Canelés de Bordeaux from Boulettes Larder, BabyQuake Trio from Cheesequakes, Frozen Hot Chocolate from Dandelion Chocolate, Pain Au Chocolat from Mariposa Baking Company, and small-batch caramels from Recchiuti Confections.
The San Francisco Flower Market. 640 Brannan Street, 1 mile from Jasper. Dubbed “the best flower market in the country” by Martha Stewart Living, SFFM is one of only five grower-owned wholesale flower market in the U.S. This unique flower haven has a tiny window during which it’s open to the public, from Mondays thru Fridays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, but making time in your schedule for the trip is very worth it.
